“Nate Marquardt Will Never Fight In The UFC Again” – Dana White

Former UFC middleweight contender Nate Marquardt was not medically cleared Saturday by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission, and has been scratched from his welterweight fight on Sunday against Rick Story.

Shortly after Marquardt failed his prefight medical exam, UFC president Dana White announced that the fighter had been released from the promotion.

“I’m sure you’ve heard that Nate Marquardt is out. It’s true. He failed his medicals,” White said on a video blog. “Not only is he out of this fight and out of the main event on Versus, he will no longer be with the UFC.”

“I think it’s pretty clear to the fans and everyone else that I’m disgusted with Nate Marquardt. He’s been cut by the UFC and he won’t fight for the UFC again. Bottom line: What Nate Marquardt did is bad enough to be cut by the UFC…. He has no business fighting in the UFC…. This is one of those situations where, because of the laws in Pennsylvania, Nate Marquardt is going to have to man up and tell the world why he didn’t pass. And when he does, I think everyone will understand why he was cut from the UFC.”

Story will now face Pennsylvania’s own Charlie Brenneman in the co-feature.

“Nate recently reported on Facebook and Twitter “NathanMarquardt Nate Marquardt
I will personally be addressing all issues regarding my medicals, etc this Tuesday.”

We will see what he has to say for himself.

This article says Nate had 6 weeks to fix whatever the problem was. Is this another case of Dana White being over dramatic and taking out his personal beef with someone else that doesn’t kiss his ass?

Marquardt will publicly address the matter Tuesday, one of Marquardt’s agents, Kelly Crigger, wrote in an e-mail.

We will find out what Nate “The Great” has to say about this during his press conference tomorrow. Nate Marquardt is a regularly polled in the Top 5 in the World for the Middleweight Division (185lbs.). Nate is a class act fighter that’s respected far beyond the UFC organization by the worldwide MMA community. It will be interesting as this story unfolds.

State commissions can deny fighters clearance for many reasons, including injuries such as cuts, concussions and fractured limbs; irregularities that turn up in MRI scans or other pre-fight examinations; diseases; or issues related to banned substances.

He has not spoken in public since the news broke. Confidentiality rules for many state athletic commissions, including Pennsylvania’s, prohibit regulators from formally disclosing most details of a specific fighter’s medical-clearance issues. However, Pennsylvania officials told MMAjunkie.com that Marquardt had six weeks to resolve the problem.

It’s interesting also that Nate is beginning to promote the new WARRIOR film from LIONS GATE.

Remember all the beef Dana White had with Rampage over him doing the A-Team movie? And how he banned Paul “Semtex” Daley, one of the world’s most explosive strikers from the UFC forever?

I’ll enjoy looking forward to Paul Daley fighting July 30th, for STRIKEFORCE… (now owned by the Zuffa/UFC).
