Nick Diaz vs Carlos Condit Rematch, already a done deal.

Rumors and news of an immediate Nick Diaz, Carlos Condit rematch started to break late last night with some buzz on twitter. Today it’s really getting some momentum and the deal seems to be done.

TODAY - Dana White - The rumor is true. Carlos did accept the fight today and Carlos is coming on Friday.

12:20 AM EST - ”Well, the powers to be just called. @CarlosCondit and myself will be in vegas and hope to have an announcement on fri… :)

10:30 AM EST – I don’t get it. First you guys want the rematch, we make it happen, now I’m getting the “wtf, don’t do it, nick doesn’t deserve it?” Smh

10:30 AM EST – “Lol, bottom line thank you to everyone who has supported us and helped make this happen.”

12:30 PM EST - ”Wow? Really? RT @CagedInsider: GSP says he would vacate title for Nick Diaz fight”

1:30 PM EST – “Can’t wait for the rematch RT @That_Hal@malkikawa did you see even @joerogan now thinks @DiazBrothers209 won the fight?!”

Via CAGEDINSIDER –  GSP Says he would vacate the title belt for a opportunity to finally fight Diaz. That’s some very interesting news to add to the situation.

Looks like it’s gonna happen. Get Nick to Glendale for some more judo!

We’d definitely like to have a Diaz vs Condit rematch. Those were the first words out of my mouth after the decision.

There have been a lot of complaints about Carlos Condit’s unanimous decision victory over Nick Diaz at UFC 143′s interim welterweight title fight on Saturday. Most notably, Nick Diaz vowed to retire from MMA after the decision was read. Diaz, and many fans, were frustrated with Condit’s counter-strike and circle away strategy, but Diaz had no answer for it inside the cage.

UFC president Dana White expressed his hope for a rematch between the two fighters as the best solution:

“I know (Georges. St. Pierre) wanted that Diaz fight bad, but it’s not going to be Diaz so he better get angry with Carlos Condit or focus on Carlos Condit or whatever he needs to do. Carlos Condit won this fight. No matter how much Georges and Nick hate each other, Carlos Condit won, and I think the fans are mad at the way Carlos Condit fought. Too f*cking bad. He came in with a game plan and stuck to it and won. You know what’s funny man, is that when he said that, I was thinking the same thing. It’s crazy, but. I was thinking it after the fight. You know, people are bitching and thinking it was close or whatever, we can do that fight again before GSP comes back. It depends on Carlos too, he’s really gotta say, and Nick’s gotta say I want to fight him again too.”

Frank Mir Breaks Nogueira’s Arm In Gruesome Submission (Video)

Frank Mir breaks Big Nogs Arm with Kimura – Download Video

Former heavyweight champion Frank Mir became the first man to submit Brazilian great Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira in mixed martial arts competition, finishing him with a horrific first-round kimura in the co-main event. The hold snapped Nogueira’s shoulder out of place in gruesome fashion, eliciting the tapout 3:38 into round one.

“Now I’m the first person to knock him out and the first person to submit him,” Mir said.

Nogueira (33-7-1, 1 NC, 4-3 UFC) had Mir badly hurt before the submission. He landed a right hook, backed it up with a left and put Mir on wobbly legs. It went to the ground, and Nogueira swarmed with punches, closing fast on the finish. Somehow, the Las Vegan survived.

“I was stunned. I was really trying to play out the first three or four minutes to see what he was doing differently,” Mir said. “He caught me. I didn’t come up to my knees, so he couldn’t drive into me. I kept flat, chest heavy and was able to break it. That’s what I trained for.”

During a subsequent scramble, Mir (16-5, 14-5 UFC) caught the arm, locked up the kimura and wrenched. Nogueira tried to roll free, but Mir only cinched it deeper. Ultimately, the arm snapped and Nogueira tapped in visible pain.

“I honestly hope that Nogueira ends up being OK,” Mir said. “I idolize him. When you’re our size and you’re as dangerous as we are, things happen. You can get caught. It takes nothing away from Nogueira.”
